The large plastic grommets sold by grommetworld.com are made from extremely durable materials. The plastic may not match a metal grommet for strength, but it is the best the industry has to offer.
The plastic used at grommetworld.com is specially treated to resist the destructive power of ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun. These rays usually are responsible for plastic fixtures discoloring, turning brittle, and cracking after exposure to the sun and elements outside. The UV stabilized polypropylene used for our grommets will resist color changes or cracking for an extended period of time even in hot and sunny areas. These qualities are perfect for use inside a window area or outside locations.
The interior diameters of these grommets is 2 ¾ inches, a standard size used in the window treatment industry for hanging drapes and curtains. A 2 inch rod or pole will fit perfectly through the grommet hole to support the hanging fabric.
The grommets from plastic can be placed without a hand press by just using a piece of wood and a small hammer. The tapping of the hammer on the wood will be enough pressure to firmly and completely attach the grommet to the fabric.
The plastic grommets are great for limited applications, but the standard material for most grommets is metal. Plastic doesn’t match the strength and durability of a metal grommet and grommetworld.com uses only brass for manufacturing its grommets. Brass provides the highest levels of strength and resistance to rust and corrosion.
Our metal grommets are available in six or seven stylish finishes for the refined look everyone desires. The finishes available for most grommets are
- antique brass,
- antique copper,
- matte nickel,
- and black.
The variety of color choices and sizes ranging from 3/16” to 3” available on demand from grommetworld.com make it the largest and most complete inventory stock in the industry.
